Hailing from Goma, North Kivu in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Brotherz Muzik is the powerhouse duo of blood brothers Magloire Chishugi Gérard and Gaston Chishugi. Raised in a home where music was more than just a pastime — their parents led a church choir — the brothers found their voices early, performing in local church services and quickly gaining recognition in their community.
Their talent soon reached wider audiences when a pastor invited them to perform live on a local Goma radio station. The exposure led to multiple school performances and widened their fan base — a pivotal step in their musical journey. But everything changed when conflict in the region forced their family to flee Goma. They relocated to Kampala, Uganda as refugees, confronting a new culture, unfamiliar language, and the challenge of rebuilding from scratch.
Despite the upheaval, music remained their constant. Enrolled in a refugee program that included a music band, they learned English and reconnected with their passion. When the band dissolved, the brothers made a bold move: to continue as an independent act. Thus, Brotherz Muzik was born — a name that would soon resonate across East Africa.
Their debut single “WANAJUA” (“They Know”) introduced a fresh, passionate sound that caught attention. Follow-ups like “PESA NGAI” (“Give Me”), “MALINGA,” and “ABRICATA” continued to build momentum. Their true breakout, however, came with “TOMORROW,” a poignant collaboration with East African superstar Sheebah. Its universal message — that the future is uncertain — struck a chord with listeners and earned them several regional awards.
Since then, Brotherz Muzik has kept audiences hooked with a string of genre-spanning singles including “WHY,” “MPAKO,” “GUN,” “KATIKA,” “STAMINA,” “DON’T GO,” and “KILA MUTU NA WAKE.” From Afrobeats to Dancehall, Rumba to R&B, their style blends vibrant energy with soulful storytelling.
