Carl DeWitt began writing songs at sixteen while growing up in Northeast Pennsylvania. During those early years, songwriting gave him a way to express the emotions, questions, and challenges he experienced as a teenager. He also sang in his high school choir and spent countless hours practicing songs he heard on the radio. By carefully studying each performer’s timing and delivery, Carl developed the ability to adjust his voice and capture a variety of musical styles.
His earliest musical interests included rock and roll and the blues, but over time, he discovered a growing appreciation for country music. Influenced by artists such as Hank Williams Jr. and Alabama, Carl eventually wrote his first country song. The creative process felt natural, with the lyrics and melody coming to him unexpectedly. Carl believes his songs are Heaven sent and that each one carries a special purpose beyond the music itself.
After recording the song, Carl took an unusual step and visited a local country radio station to ask for an honest opinion. The receptionist brought him into the manager’s office, where the manager listened to the recording several times and encouraged him to protect it through copyright. Carl later released the song on social media, where it gained more than 300 views mainly through word of mouth. Encouraged by the positive response, Carl DeWitt is now focused on sharing his music with a larger audience and pursuing his dream of receiving Grammy recognition.
