or more than two decades, Rev. R.L. Bush has devoted his life to ministry and gospel music. Born in Brooklyn, New York, he discovered his calling at an early age and developed it through 16 years of educational training, including earning a divinity degree. His mission has always extended beyond entertainment: he uses his voice, biblical knowledge and personal testimony to inspire hearts, strengthen faith and share God’s love around the world.
Rev. Bush began his musical journey as a drummer with the legendary Clarence Fountain and The Five Blind Boys of Alabama. He later performed with the Lumzy Sisters of New Jersey and shared stages with celebrated gospel acts such as the Pilgrim Jubilees, Doc McKenzie and The Hi-Lights. After Doc McKenzie recognized the remarkable strength of his voice, Rev. Bush embraced his God-given gift as a singer and went on to tour with Spencer Taylor and The Highway Q.C.’s, the Flint Cavaliers and The Jackson Southernairs.
Together with The Revived Sons, Rev. Bush has become a respected force in traditional gospel music. Their accomplishments include Song of the Year at the Newsome Awards, Quartet of the Year at the Avidity Gospel Music Awards and Gospel Choice Music Awards, and National Male Group of the Year at the Texas Gospel Music Awards. They have also earned multiple honors from the Praise Factor People’s Choice Awards and the Gospel Sound Music Awards, celebrating both the group’s excellence and Rev. Bush’s powerful leadership.
