Though recently launched, Sharpline Distro is a trending name in the thriving and changing music industry. While music has long had a place in our heart, music distribution has been a source of grief for artists everywhere. For a long time, talent wasn’t enough, and as long as you didn’t score proper distribution and representation, you could wave your music career goodbye.
But now, times are changing, and companies like Sharpline Distro are starting to emerge onto the scene. Designed by Victor Byke as a way to give artists from all over the world a voice, and an affordable choice for representation, Sharpline Distro is winning over the industry at an accelerated rate.
It was recently announced that musicians working with Sharpline were earning a whopping $50k (and more) a year from streaming alone. For any aspiring artist, such numbers can only qualify as a distant dream. And yet, with Sharpline’s distribution & marketing services, those dreams can soon become a reality.
According to Sharpline, they’ve seen their artist numbers increase by an impressive 60% in 2022 alone. For artists working with Sharpline Distro, it gets even better. According to the worldwide distribution service, 50 artists who distribute with them are earning over One Million Dollars a year through streaming every year with Sharpline Distro.
The reason for this incredible success, according to Managing Director David James, is that while distributing through Sharpline, the artists are still staying independent as well as benefitting from their marketing services which accessible for every artist at no cost. Thus they retain all rights and liberties pertaining to their art, while reaping the benefits of proper, solid distribution. According to James, this explains the rapidly growing number of artists moving over to Sharpline Distro.
“Our goal at Sharpline Distro is to build a sustainable career with no upward limit. So many people today are understanding the value of staying independent, and rather than work against that, like much of the industry, we see the value in working with,” says David James.
“Think about it,” chairman Victor Byke adds. “You’re an independent artist with full rights to your music, and $50k in profits. That’s easily worth a million for the masters, when we’re talking about selling your rights, right?”
By that logic, says, Byke, Sharpline has a huge number of artists whose worth is ranking in the hundreds of millions.
Byke also spoke about Sharpline’s plans for the future, which include investing in artists signed to Sharpline Distro Records (the brand’s label), and supporting middle tier artists.
“Middle-tier artists are somewhere between $25k to $1m, and no one’s looking at their interests. It’s either new, emerging artists, or big names. Yet, the middle-tier is going to be a $7 billion business by 2025. And that’s where we’re going to be. We’re scaling up. Our artists are making over $50k, a great number of them. Several are topping 1 million. It’s just a matter of scaling up. We want to help our clients grow naturally, while we grow alongside them.”
David James agreed, saying it’s a “trend in the music industry,” and that “more artists are going to want to become that type of artist before 2025”.
