Every great artist has a beginning. For Lisakhanya Bizo, professionally known as Leegh 28, that beginning was not a major studio, a record deal, or expensive equipment. It was simply a love for music and a phone. Growing up in South Africa, Leegh 28 was surrounded by music from an early age. Listening to music became part of his everyday life, so much so that he eventually realized he did not simply enjoy music—he needed it. That passion would ultimately inspire him to stop being only a listener and start becoming a creator.
In 2023, Leegh 28 opened BandLab on his phone and began experimenting with music. With limited resources but unlimited curiosity, he started teaching himself how music was made. BandLab became the place where his dream began to feel possible. It gave him the confidence to believe that perhaps he could create something of his own and, someday, make it in the music industry. In 2024, he invested in a laptop, downloaded FL Studio, and entered a much deeper chapter of his musical journey. Learning production was challenging, but Leegh 28 embraced the process. He spent countless hours experimenting with sounds, building beats, studying production, making mistakes, and trying again. Instead of allowing the learning curve to discourage him, he used every setback as motivation to become better.
His dedication eventually began turning a dream into something tangible. By the end of 2025, Leegh 28 had saved enough money to purchase his own music equipment and create a home recording setup. For an artist who had started by making music on a phone, having the ability to record his own music at home represented a major milestone. Then, in early 2026, he released his debut mixtape, marking the beginning of a new era. Now preparing to release his next project, Leegh 28 believes he is creating something that can take his career to another level. More than an emerging artist, he is a self-made creative who has built his journey one step at a time. From a phone to FL Studio, from learning sounds to creating his own records, Leegh 28's story is one of persistence and belief. South Africa has produced generations of musical stars, and Leegh 28 is determined to become part of that legacy. His story is still being written—and he believes the biggest chapter is yet to come.
